Project Description

The PMCA project Phase III will assist specific DID partners in rounding out the financial services provided in rural areas.  Using the lessons learned in Phases I and II, PMCA III is intended to respond to a need to innovate in order to reach the portion of the population for which access to credit remains a challenge.

DID will work, therefore, on developing and testing new products (specialized savings plans to buy agricultural inputs and agricultural credit for investments), exploring new mechanisms for distributing financial services in rural areas using available technologies, developing and testing a risk-sharing mechanism among institutions and testing new mechanisms for loan collection and monitoring using available technologies.
